IRS: June '09 (6-Month Special)
Event Date: Thursday July 2nd, 2009
Event Value: $0.00
I want to make a real quick amendment to last month's edition of the IRS- last month, I erroneously labeled Legendary Xtreme Wrestling Championship (LXWC) as a continuation of the now-retired XCW G-Fed. It was brought to my attention that LXWC, although having lots of old staff members and handlers from XCW, is a completely different entity and should be treated as such. For my error, my apology goes out to the LXWC community.
Welcome everyone to the latest edition of the IRS. Seeing as we've been doing this for six-months now, we have a special treat for you following this month's rankings. We originally planned a few more things, but considering the amount of work it will take, and the magnitude of it, we decided that it would be best to save THOSE special features until our one-year special. Til then, you'll have to deal with what we have in store at the end of this month's listings.
Because of the 'specialness' of this sixth-month milestone (and the insanely close-nature of the roleplays this month), IRS has decided to showcase the top THIRTY roleplayers this month.
Special thank you goes out to Chris, aka Tha Joka, for his generous donation to the IRS fund. I also want to thank everyone who participated in the IRS "donationathon" thread Joka created. I don't want to seem like a charity case, but a lot has happened on my end recently with medical expenses and tuition costs, so anything helps right now. As I said before, if you appreciate what the IRS has to offer, please donate. You can find a link to the donation page on the side.
In other IRS news, we are still in-search of anyone who may be interested in tackling In-Character interviews on a consistent basis. Until that position is filled, we regretfully inform the readers out there that there will be no new In-Character interviews. Sorry.
Another thing we would like to touch upon is 'real characters;' that includes the, "Chuck Norrises" or the, "Hank Hills" or even the, "Ronald McDonalds" of the G-Fed world. When compiling the listings, IRS reserves the judgment on whether the character('s roleplay) is eligible to make the IRS or not. As it stands right now, only 'original characters' will be eligible for the list, but that may change with discretion and without notice.
The last bit of IRS news for this month is something that has been bothering me specifically: deleted content. Sorry folks, but if it's not there for me to grade when it comes to the end of the month and I'm ready to do my IRS scoring, how can I list them? There's been a few times where I'll have someone on the shortlist for a roleplay he or she has done, but then came back to it to see that it is no longer there or that the fed has closed. I wish it wouldn't happen, but my hands are tied on the matter.
Moving on, let's talk about some G-Fed news:
Team Oliver Promotions is still the spot to be at for all your random discussion board fun. Think of it like 4Chan, but not really. Or something. Outer Limits has been running things for awhile now, and although I do miss Blake Oliver's sports games, Outer Limits randomness is always fun. Try to apply, and if the TOP Team think you have what it takes to be on top, they'll find a way to get you in.
Wowfood has recently beta-launched his writing tools website. You can check out his writing guides by going here: http://danda-comics.co.uk/writing/
Draper Gilliam or TWFA or whatever he calls himself has returned to G-Fed after being caught, and called out, for roleplay thievery. From what I believe to be true, Draper is still only a young child, so he's going to make kidlike mistakes. But he has to learn from them and not continue to make them if he ever wishes to get back into the good gracious of the G-Fed community. If he continues to be proud of being a 'n00b,' there's no hope for him. The lying and stealing has to go.
Speaking of thievery, what's up with people stealing roleplays and characters anyway? I don't think I have to spit out everything people have said recently, but I will make my own thoughts known: there's no reward for plagiarizing roleplays. You shouldn't be happy with 'winning' with work that's not your own. And you can't be proud of writing if you haven't written anything. As for stealing characters, that needs to stop too. If you really like a character, base a new character around the original character, but don't steal the entire character and bio and stuff. If you really want to use an already established character, ask the original creator and see if something can get worked out. Show a little pride, people!
I'm still wondering when GWA's "One Night Stand" is going to take place. I don't mind reunion shows as long as they're not beaten to death and there's a reunion show every two months or if marks a return of a promotion. As long as GWA stays dead, I'll enjoy this upcoming show...whenever it takes place.
Hasn't Hammy J been the most consistent roleplayer for Global Wrestling Federation? If I recall, he has roleplayed for every GWF event, has competed in every GWF card, and is a pretty over character...so why hasn't he received an opening or closing segment in the results? The better question is, why hasn't he even been featured in the GWF homepage scrolling GIF image? I smell rodent discrimination.
There's a rumor that three competitors will be returning to Total Extreme Wrestling, and that place has been abuzz with thoughts of who it could be. It has been said that it won't be 'Dynamic' Davey Dynamo, Aiden Cross, or Muddy. Who could it be? Stay tuned to TEW to find out.
I am SO over the John Woosck character, gimmick, or whatever he is. We, as a community, REALLY need Dan or Brian or someone to step in. You see, people like him are reasons we need forum moderators. There's nothing wrong with the concept of 'G-Fed Police' if the person[s] chosen don't abuse power and are there to enforce the rules that we all agreed to follow when we registered to join the site.
NWW has some great new graphics up. On second thought, maybe they aren't great, but compared to what they were using before...anything is a step up.
Kris Kaine, who was popular during G-Fed 2.0, has returned to G-Fed. He is currently competing in the GSWA promotion. I have known Kris for a LONG time, and I've competed in feds he has ran, he has competed in feds I've run, and we've competed against each other in other feds; good pickup GSWA.
Over in Steel City Wrestling, Twice Nightly has been appointed SCW Commissioner. They've also seen the return of Xavier Xannon Xanders. Some fun stuff has been happening there. GREAT fed atmosphere.
Oh, did you know that 'The Reverend" Joseph Steele of SCW fame has an MMA G-Fed out called Steel City Cage Fighting? No, you didn't? Well, now you know.
Paradox City is open for business. For all your vampire, superhero, super villain, mutant needs, check that out.
Deathmatch Wrestling is a new fed brought to you by Tha Joka and Juggalo Xtreme. It's a fed that has no continuity and based off the Celebrity Deathmatch television show, except, instead of celebrities, we'll be seeing forum members and G-Fed characters battle it out to the death! Don't worry about having your character killed though...because this all takes place in Joka's mind!
I, along with many others, think that the G-Fed value system has a lot of potential. Unfortunately, potential and proper execution is two very different things. I'm still waiting on new tweaks for 3.0, or a hint at when a 4.0 will be launched. Hell, I'm still waiting to see Brian or Dan take a renewed interest in G-Fed altogether.
Really...please...stop opening new feds. For me?

What a month it has been for TEW. The activity in that place has always been high, but this month, has been phenomenal. The TEW Management team deserves a big round of applause, for they have managed to bring in some of the finest talent around G-Fed, while improving their own stars, to form one of the best talent pools around. The TEW Management team also created a fun atmosphere where ego is kept to a minimum these days, which is a good thing. Add on improved graphics and features, and great results, and you have yourself the best G-Fed for the month of June.

- Brian Seles (GSWA/CWX) {45} [-]
Brian retains the number-one spot this month with his roleplay, "The Reason for Wrestling." In this roleplay, Brian shows you that you don't have to write 5,000 words to write a well-written roleplay. In The Reason for Wrestling, Brian hits every scoring category well with pin-point precision, the right amount of match relevance and character development, a good use of word mastery, and it was a entertaining read.
- Matt Slater (CWX/GWF) {44.5} [-]
Slater stands pat at number-two this month, with his roleplay, "Returning With Pride." Some may think that this particular roleplay may be a questionable choice, and to be honest, I enjoyed some of his other work better. However, based on the system in place, this one scored the best. Solid character development and history in this one, along with great writing and good precision and depth, was good enough to keep Matt at number-two. But you have to know Slater wants to regain number-one, so I expect him to showcase something fierce next month.
- Exile (Genesis) {44.5} [+]
Exile has only made one post in Genesis this month, but that one post ("Part One: An Old Friend") was enough to get him third on this month's rankings. His roleplay was a good piece of introductory work, and helped showcase his character. But it wasn't all character development, as he did manage to incorporate match relevance to the rp, which is always a good thing. Solid piece of writing. Good enough to earn rank number three this month.

I told you I had something special planned. Over the past six months, many feds have come and gone...some have reached greatness, others have not. On the list below, IRS ranks the best overall feds, based on ability to last and longevity, talent level, impact and importance, management team, and atmosphere. Here we go, Top 10 Feds of 2009:
- Championship Wrestling Organization: 2
CWO2 has a lot going against it- it doesn't have flashy graphics, an over-active roster, or a management team that thrives for the best...but what CWO2 does have going for it is a loyal roster, with a couple of standouts, and a consistency to produce. And overall, that's enough for them to sneak onto the list of best G-Feds since IRS's conception.
- Lightning Championship Wrestling
LCW could have been ranked much higher, but some bouts of inactivity and management confusion has led to it slipping as low as it did. However, with that written, LCW does usually have a roster of good writers, and, for the most part, a good management team. There were better G-Feds, but there were about forty worse.
- Gods of Wrestling
GOW may not impress many with flashy graphics, and the handlers and management there may overrate the roleplayers when it comes to talent, but what they do have is consistency, fun, good results, and a great leader in The Michael. GOW is truly one of the best feds G-Fed has to offer when you're looking for a fed to stay around, or an overall tight-knit community.
- New Wave of Wrestling
NWW has always ranked high on the G-Fed value/money system, but those rankings mean little here at IRS. What does mean something, however, is how NWW has always managed to keep a loyal roster, a good owner, and a consistent and respected G-Fed.
- Genesis
Genesis started as a feeder system for GWF, but once GWF exploded (or imploded, depending on who you ask), Genesis established their own name. There may be no management system on G-Fed better than Genesis's, and the talent continues to grow and improve.
- Global Wrestling Federation
The G-Fed world was in awe when GWF first arrived on the scene, due to its amazing graphics and features, a solid management team, and one of the most well-respected, talented rosters to ever be put together....then they exploded. However, even with a two month absence, GWF still made it on the list of one of the best places to be in G-Fed.
- Steel City Wrestling
When RCW first became SCW, there was a very brief transitional period of uncertainty. And they never did achieve the graphical 'greatness' that RCW managed to accomplish. However, with a passionate, consistent, and well-balanced management team in place, good results, and a dedicated roster, the place has earned its spot as one of the must-stop spots in the G-Fed world. Only thing missing is some extra features to draw in 'fans' and improved graphics.
- Garden State Wrestling Alliance
GSWA may have slipped recently, but that doesn't mean they don't deserve recognition as one of the best feds G-Fed has produced within the past six months. Originally ran by handler Piffin (with minimal help given by handler Honesty), GSWA etched out a nice niche in G-Fed lore with their talent roster, and fun ad-campagin. Unfortunately for them, IRS came out a few months too late for them to gain a number-one spot during its 'peak period.' Still, GSWA proved to be home of some of the best in-fed communities, and had one of the best talent rosters. Now, with handler Crafty Critter in-charge, GSWA once again wants to show the G-Fed world that they are the place to be. And as it shows, I agree.
- Championship Wrestling X
Active boards, great talent, and a superb management system over the past six months have made CWX the best choice to compete in since IRS has been conceived. Promoted by Enforcer, CWX has a great grasp on the level of realism the game should be played at, and has a talent roster that other feds should envy. CWX has earned the right to be considered one of the best G-Feds during the 'IRS months.'
- Total Extreme Wrestling
TEW has been through two management changes but has maintained itself as a top-five fed since IRS first started through hard-work, a dedicated staff, and great talent. When Scott Sloan ran TEW, he had put together a very loyal and active community, as well as a good management team, while keeping the fed interesting with fun features and consistent updates. However, it was Franco Cruz who brought TEW to the next level with his active recruiting, his emphasis on roleplays being about good writing and less about value, and his improved graphics and features. TEW probably has the most active of G-Fed sub-communities, and the greatest chance to stay at the top of the charts. TEW has been, overall, THE best G-Fed in the past six months.
